The many faces of caring
The caring experience can range from being very rewarding with a great buzz of achievement, to being a most fearful and anxiety inducing experience.
There will be times when everything goes well and there will be times when it would be useful to have some help. There are of course several possible sources of help, ranging from family and friends to professional bodies and support organisations, but sometimes even all that is not enough.
I want to share with you the knowledge and resources that have helped to get me through the transitional planning process, and using self-directed support (also known as direct-payments or in-control). I will try and explain some of the common words and phrases that you will hear when you are involved in the transitional planning process with your local authority social work office.
Being faced with a caring role is tough enough, so let me help you care by giving a wee bit of support to understand directed services and transitions planning. Perhaps a good place to start would be the frequently asked questions page, also known as FAQs.
